SXSWi 2008 in Retrospect: Sunlight and Soljah Boy

Tuesday gifted me with a wonderfully impromptu sxswi lunch with people whom I had just met that morning, great Cuban food and even better conversation. Afterwards, I forwent the Jane McGonigal keynote to soak up the deliciously warm sunlight on the south side of the conference center.  A passing sxsw friend joined me, and we dove into a conversation about how to guide our careers in new directions.  Soon we were joined by another couple of friends passing by, and the discussion shifted to the need for high-profile women in the web industry to set good examples because of being more visible.  Yet another buddy joined us, stretched out on the floor in the only shady spot, and, while donning sunglasses, grumbled that he doesn’t like the sun.  Eventually, our ad-hock group disbanded, and I slipped back into the McGonigal presentation just in time to see her perform the “Soljah Boy” dance. It was an absolutely perfect afternoon.
