All of God’s Children Need Traveling Shoes

— quote from Maya Angelou, from the book of the same title.

I’ve got mine, and they fit my feet like a glove.

I’m off on my big adventure! My car is fixed: new brakes, new tires, new timing belt, oil change, new windshield even! Had a great going away party, hung out with folks this last week, packed up boxes to ship to my Mom’s, and have tied up as many loose ends as I possibly can. Seattle — I’m outta here!

Off to Vancouver, BC to visit my long-lost friend Taro, whom I have not seen since the summer of 1994. I met him through the Minority Leader’s Fellowship Program with the Washington Center for Internships. He was the very first person I talked to, and we were friends for the whole summer. One of the most memorable things we did together was see the movie “Fear of a Black Hat”, which was absolutely hysterical. We lost track of each other, but I found him on the web (of course!), and sent off an email. He wrote back, and here I am, driving off to see him. I love the power of the web.

Publish somthing! It’s such a pleasure to read writing that flows and is so pure you want to bathe in it.
